GloryGirl: The Inspiration and Purpose

GloryGirl was inspired by four things.  First and foremost, our daughters -all budding heroes (1) in their own right.   Then our work with human archetypes, a love for art and visual storytelling, and a lifelong respect and inspiration from heroic women who achieved as much or more in their individual roles versus male contemporaries, from Ruler to General to Physicist but were criminally left at the sidelines of history based on their gender.  These were some of our own heroes growing up, and we realized that when we passed them along to our daughters, verbally, and they couldn’t find any source texts, we needed to reintroduce them to the word (as a whole).

Super-premium rockstar cut made in usa t-shirts

High-quality custom printed shirts from leading l.a. brands bella & canvas and American apparel (for unisex)

Why we call this a “labor of love”.

First, we only sell merchandise we’d want to wear or read ourselves. Our t-shirts are handmade (cut and stitched) in the USA. Based on the cost, to make an actual (normal) profit, we’d have to sell them for $50. We don’t. Second, we don’t pay ourselves from any of the GloryGirl work. (We do pay our illustrators as they’re hand-picked by title, based on both skill and specific style, and hail from everywhere from France to Japan and Indonesia. Aside from that, we have a small fun set up for Design with STEM based education in the NYC area, to supplement tuition for girls who want to attend those programs or schools what net profit is generated goes directly to these two things.
